Teaching Course

Since October 2002, the Department of Nursing has been providing the opportunity to obtain a 『Public Health Teacher Certificate (Level 2 Full Teacher)』 in accordance with the regulations related to teacher qualification examination established by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development.

Teacher selection process

The number of students eligible to complete the teaching profession is 3 per grade, and among students who applied to complete the teaching profession, students are selected through a committee meeting based on the results of the teaching aptitude and personality test.

Teaching application period: End of second semester of first year

Criteria for passing the non-examination test for those who have completed the teaching course

Based on students enrolled after 2013
Major subjects •50 credits or more
– Includes at least 21 credits (7 subjects) of basic courses
– Includes at least 8 credits (3 subjects) in the subject education area
Teaching subjects •22 credits or more
– More than 12 credits (6 subjects) of teaching theory
– Teaching knowledge 6 credits (3 subjects) or more
– More than 4 credits of teaching practicum
Grade criteria •Average grade of 75/100 or higher in major courses
•An average grade of 80/100 or higher in teaching courses
Others •Teaching aptitude and personality test qualifications determined more than twice
•First aid and CPR at least twice
(However, as of the effective date of March 1, 2016, those who have 2 semesters of teacher training course remaining until completion of the teacher training course will be administered once. Those with less than 2 semesters remaining are excluded.)
•Nurse license
•Standards set separately by the head of the university

Overview of teaching courses

Foundations of Education
: As a basic theory on education and pedagogy in general, it is a general introduction to all detailed fields related to pedagogy, such as educational history/philosophy, educational psychology/society, curriculum and teaching/learning methods, educational measurement/evaluation, educational administration/management, and teacher theory.
Philosophy and History of Education
: The course approaches the subject from a philosophical and historical level for a fundamental and in-depth understanding of the basic concepts of education and pedagogy. In particular, the course focuses on major educational thinkers in the East and West from ancient times to modern times and lecture on the core of their human understanding and educational theory.
Educational Methodology and Technology
: The course examines teaching-learning theories and corresponding educational media that can be usefully applied in the classroom at a theoretical level. Additionally, students have the opportunity to apply the theories they have learned in practice using participatory class management methods such as presentations, discussion classes, and demonstration classes.
Educational Psychology
: The course covers basic theories of psychology that can be actually applied in educational settings. In particular, by providing an overview of basic theories in major fields related to education, such as cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, and personality psychology, this course provides a basic understanding of key topics in educational psychology, such as the development, learning, and adaptation of children and adolescents.
Educational Sociology
: In order to discuss educational phenomena from a sociological perspective, the course focuses on classic theorists in sociology and deal with their core concepts. In particular, students will be exposed to various theories in the sociology of education in order to develop critical thinking skills to acutely recognize and solve problems related to education that exist in society.
Curriculum and Evaluation
: The course covers the history, basic concepts and theories in the field of curriculum and educational evaluation, and the fields and areas of their practical application. In particular, considering that this field has great applicability in the educational field, there is an opportunity to practice in practice, such as by developing a mock curriculum.
Introduction to Teaching Practice
: This is a course to acquire the basic knowledge and information required to perform actual duties as a teacher at school. The top priority is to develop practical capabilities for students and teachers themselves, and the closest thing they can do is to serve as OT for school field training.
Volunteer Activities in Education
: This is a course that carries out volunteer work in various areas related to education conducted in domestic kindergartens, elementary, middle, high schools, and other education-related institutions. The purpose is to provide a broad understanding of the various educational issues and situations occurring in the Korean education field and to have a sound educational outlook.
School field training
: By actually going to the educational field, teaching students, and gaining experience in the school environment, students will develop their perspective on the relationship between theory and practice in education, and cultivate the professional qualities and attitude that a teacher must have.
